Chiropractic

Chiropractors are best known for treatment of neck and back pain. Chiropractic may also help relieve postural stress, headache, shoulder, arm, wrist and hand, hip, knee and foot pain. A Chiropractic physician is an excellent first choice to evaluate most types of muscle and joint pain, numbness, weakness, vertigo or activity limitations. Most but not all patients are appropriate candidates for spinal manipulation. Dr. LeMay understands this and never hesitates to promptly refer a patient when indicated and has excellent working relationships with medical specialists in internal medicine, neurology, neurosurgery and orthopedics. X-ray facilities are available on site at Bull Run Chiropractic Clinic if necessary.

Chiropractic health care emphasizes the relationship between the structure and function of the human body. Mechanical, postural and repetitive stress may result in chronic pain and inflammation. Acute trauma such as slips and falls, auto crashes and on-the-job injuries may cause bone fracture, muscle injury and ligament tearing with resulting pain and disability. Dr. LeMay is highly trained as both a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.), requiring 4 years following undergraduate college and as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) with bachelors degree in nursing. Skilled Chiropractic spinal adjustments, also known as manual manipulation of the spine and and extremities has been demonstrated in many peer-reviewed published studies to be very safe, and effective for relief of symptoms. Chiropractic has been demonstrated to be a lower cost alternative in many cases. Dr. LeMay uses a variety of "hands-on" Chiropractic adjustments help restore normal joint motion and reduce muscle spasm and pain. Massage, physiotherapy, stretching, athletic taping and exercise also help speed recovery. A person who has balanced posture, symmetrical flexibility and strength will generally be a person with fewer complaints of pain.

Massage

We have an experienced licensed massage therapist who works here at Bull Run Chiropractic Clinic. We offer 30 and 60 minute sessions at very competitive rates. All ages and abilities are welcome. Focused therapeutic massage is targeted for specific conditions and tailored to the individual patient. Massage improves blood and lymph circulation, reduces muscle spasm, helps increase joint range of motion, and promotes healing. People often report improvement in headache pain. Relaxation, full body massage helps reduce tension and anxiety.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is "adjunctive" or additional treatment to "hands on" Chiropractic manipulation and massage, which may also be used to help to resolve an injury or condition. At Bull Run Chiropractic Clinic we may use ice, ultrasound, electrotherapy, low level light therapy (laser, infrared) or athletic taping when appropriate to reduce pain, swelling, inflammation and muscle spasm. Heat may be used with degenerative, stiffening conditions. We have equipment to perform gentle flexion-distraction, a type of segmental traction on areas of the spine when there is sign of disc compression. We also help patients to learn home routines of stretching using assisted isolated stretching (AIS) and other methods to increase flexibility.

Orthotics

Custom made orthotics are available at Bull Run Chiropractic Clinic. Posture can have a profound effect on pain symptoms and contribute to repetitive strain. This is especially true for athletes of all ages and workers who have physically demanding occupations. Lower extremity biomechanical faults such as flat feet and over pronation may cause painful conditions not only in the feet. Foot problems may contribute to knee, hip and back pain. Orthotics help to reduce stress in the foot and limit its effect upstream in the body. We work with two different manufacturers to provide choice for maximum value and satisfaction.
